Artist Showcase – La Família López

About the Artists
Krissa, Felix, and Joseph Lopez Felix López has been carving santos since 1976. His work is well known and is part of numerous collections, including the Smithsonian Institution. His images reflect the historic santero tradition of New Mexico, yet are innovative. They reflect also López’s deep faith, quiet nature and simple way of life. His work has often been described as “highly spiritual.”

As children, López taught his son Joseph and daughter Krissa to value and appreciate their rich cultural heritage. Today both are accomplished artists, each having developed a style of their own within the santero tradition. Their work is also in numerous collections. The work of the three López family members, Felix, Krissa and Joseph, is represented here.
